I am familiar with the Park and Ride before, during and after construction and I will speak from my own experience. Initially the P&R serviced the W17 and W19 Express buses to Southern Avenue Metro. The first year after construction of the P&R the W17 was removed from the line and the W19 operated until July of this year. Additionally MTA began offering commuter bus service to the customers at this stop. Don't know if they needed the extra lot because some of the commuter lots were closed for repair, etc.in Charles County or because their was a request for additional transportation services with the growing transit population in this part of the county. The County and State waffled over the upkeep and security of this P&R for years. The County now is suppose to have oversight. Vandalism of vehicles parked on the lot during the day continues to be out of control. Less than two months ago more than eight vehicles were vandalized on the same day and no arrest were made that we are aware. Community and neighborhood groups have reached out to state and local representatives for assistance with no solution but a fence that does not prohibit vandalism. The police are often not there on a continuous basis, so you park at your own peril and pray your car will be safe. Now that the elimination of local bus service has placed a burden on the current commuter buses I, like others, make an effort to catch the buses as early as possible to get to DC by 8 a.m. this means being in line not later than 6:05 a.m. and hoping to catch the 6:30 or 6:40 bus. Letters, emails and calls to MTA and others have gone unheeded. There are no plans as we know today to increase the commuter buses even though federal employees provide the bulk of the revenue for this service. The results of a recent survey by MTA regarding services was never revealed to those of us who submitted the survey. People are now parking wherever they can which adds another challenge, avoiding an accident in the parking lot.

Because it's always crowded no matter how early you get the bus. Sometimes the driver leaves before he/she is supposed too and the traffic sucks.

If you plan to move out here and use this park and ride, don't count on it. While the bus service is cool, the lot never has spaces. It's not large enough to handle the amount of commuters moving to the area.

I welcome any solution.....will MTA, the County or the State give us relief?
